The bowl of the goblet is supported by a circular foot and a stem with a node and three scrolled wings, its whole surface adorned with the ribbon and Rollwerk ornaments. In the middle, three oval fields feature a lion, a bear and a wolf shown against the background of an urban landscape. The same motif, but on a smaller scale, is repeated on the goblet’s cover. A narrow band trailing around the lip of the goblet is made up of cast lion heads which hold rings used for attaching journeymen’s tags. The cover is crowned with a figurine of a Roman legionary who holds a stonemason’s trammel and a shield with a rampant lion and the initials AK. The goblet was accompanied by 37 silver tags, of which the oldest dated from 1618 and the last one was commissioned in 1911 to commemorate the transfer of the ‘wilkom’ goblet to the Museum collection. The work has been attributed to a Wrocław goldsmith Ludwig Viecke (1540–1615). The goblet in all its glory can be viewed in the miniature painted around 1618 in the still existing album of the Wrocław fraternity of bricklayers and stonemasons journeymen. The goblet belonged to members of that fraternity from the 17th century until 1911, when it was sold by its provident fund for RM 4500 to the collection of KGM, and during the next year included in the inventory ledger (inv. 19:12). At present only its lid remains in the collection of MNWr (inv. MNWr V-642).
